I wonder who came up with this idea as it is really ridiculous. This isn't the case with DS3, all your guns are taken away from you and replaced with a bench. Where you had your guns and your bolts and called it a day. I still remember when DS2 was a delight to me. The game does it's best to separate you from people even though at times it's a bit overboard. But as awesome as Isaac is, he still pursues her and agrees to carry out her bidding. Later you discover that the girl who you supposedly bonded with in the previous game has decided to dump you despite your heroic attempt to woo her. Two guys get in your apartment and put a gun to your head to follow them. Now with the gameplay things go downhill from there. The controls are decent, and the game runs alright with a controller or a keyboard and mouse configuration. Floating around in space in DS3 never looked so good before.
